We were all set ready to go and then BANG huge thunder and lightening hit just about a half a mile up wind from us just as it was 30 seconds before my start. Just as we were starting they put up the abandonment flag and we tired to make it to the beach as quickly as possible. The storm was coming in fast. From the time we were powered up on 8.2's to the time we made it back to the beach, it went from windy to almost glassy and raining like a typhoon. It was pretty interesting. We got to sit around in our wet suits for awhile and then derig in the rain. Was pretty chilly as well for us Maui residents... Forecast looks pretty bad but you never know. There is definitely some unstable air out there moving around so we might just get some wind. You never know. Here are some fun shots by JC...

Well today is the day. First day of the racing season. Looks like the wind has backed off a bit. The rain came in and so who knows what we will get today. Here are a couple shots from yesterday. I took some shots of some fins, looks like the majority of the people are running the new SL4's even Antoine has them in his boards. I asked him a while back how he liked them and he told me that he didn't but now that they are in his boards on Race day could be a sign that he actually does like the SL 4. Ross Williams is running them in the Tabou boards, the Musamoni brothers are running them in the F2's and a couple others using them in the Fanatics. So we will see when the flag drops!

Made it here.. All went well. Was a nice long flight.. pretty impressed with Korean Air.. Good food, nice seats, some good movies. Got to watch American Gangster which I thought was great... All the gear came out, the Koreans were nice to greet us here and take us to our lovely love hotels. We have some pretty cool rooms with red lights on the top of the room and just some funny stuff in them. Guess you have to see it to believe it.. The wind was really good today. Sailed on 7.6 on my 101 with my 38cm fin. Was going ok but need to get a bit more tuned up. Tomorrow looks like there will be some wind again and then once the contest starts it should back off for the first couple days. We will see. You never know. Here is a couple beach shots for you. I will try and get some technical photos coming up. Had too much to do today but maybe some more time tomorrow.
