I almost cant handle it... I got my passport and then sent it back off to the mainland because they didnt end up issuing me a visa to Brazil and it needed to go through an adgency.. So we will see. It is a rush against time to see if we can get this thing organized and ready before the contest starts.
You never know.. maybe this will be the fire that gets me back into the wave title race! We will have to wait and see.

Just had an amazing holiday weekend. One of the best Labor day weekends I have ever had. Was tons of fun. I went with Lindsay and her family over to Molokai and had a local style weekend of hanging out with the family. Was super relaxing and took some nice shots that I will share with you guys soon.
But now the stress begins.. I am leaving on Thursday and still dont have my passport with my visa for Brazil.. I am stressing out.. Lets hope it comes in soon. It says that it taked 10 days to process and it has been longer than that.. So we will see. Maybe I wont be leaving but lets keep our fingers crossed. If any of you guys know how to get the visa thing up and making it quick or are in LA and know someone at the Consulate or have any ideas of how to get it a bit faster.. please feel free to drop me a line!!
Picts will be up tomorrow hopefully.

Well after a little bit of stress starting to set in as it has been two weeks since I have seen my faithful gear bag with those precious Debiochet custom fins looming around in there, it has finally arrived. But that was not because of the faithful folks at AA's work. I had just been to the airport to look for my bag here in Kahului and they were like, nope, can't find it. They sent messages to LAX, Chicago, and HNL but no luck.. But as luck would have it Matt is on his way down to Baja to teach one of his wave sailing clinics.. I was in Costco and I called him up with the idea for him to have a little sniff around when he gets in to LAX and see if he could find my bag. I had a sneaky suspicion that it would be there. Actually I kinda new it was there because I saw it on the belt when I was there and I didn't pick it up.. NOTE TO SELF.. Dont do that again especially with those fins in it.... Anyhow I was missing one of the bags so I didn't think that leaving it there would make too much difference and they would just send it on.. little did I know I would be stressing about it for this long... Anyhow, Matt took a look around the LAX bag room and FOUND my bag!!! He called to leave a message on my phone at 3 am but my phone was on and right next to me so I woke up and took the call but was so excited that I couldn't get back to sleep. So it is supposed to get delivered today so we will have to wait and see but they said it was on the way!!
Been sailing quite a bit.. today was super flat so mowed the lawn, trimmed the trees, worked on the Maui Sails rigging guide picts for 08 and now going for another photoshoot session with a couple that just wants some cool sunset picts. My buddy Charles Oreve hooked me up with this one. I was stoked because for Charles who has been killing it with some great shots in all the windsurfing mags to mention me for some shots.. that is pretty good. Charles was one of the pro photog's that has helped me along with giving me some very critical criticism which sometimes hurt the ego a bit but always made me strive to get better and better with my shots!
Here is a shot from a while ago.. just working on my presentation a bit..

Had a nice sail today at Camp one.. But that was only after paying our dues.. drove out to La perus to try and get some of the south swell only to get a little skunked. Went out not enough waves out there, went to dumps and the wind turned onshore.. so went all the way back to the place we started at and finally got out for a sail. Waves were actually pretty fun. Had a couple backside 360's and was fun.
A friend of mine was teaching me how to do some shooting this morning and that was really fun. She organized a model and everything and was teaching me some tips and tricks and the shots came out pretty cool. I will maybe post some later on..

So I took the suggestions of cleaning off the desktop and I think that seemed to make the most difference. I also reset safari and all that seemed to do was clear away all my passwords and now I have to remember them all. It seems to be running a bit better now. Lets hope. How do I check my ram settings? Last night I wanted to throw this thing out the window when I had a couple photoshop files out; not saved that I was working on and the dreaded grey tint started rolling down the screen telling me to hold down the power button and restart the machine.. I thought these Mac's were the Sh)@#.. Whenever you talk to a Mac guy about the new Intel photoshop they all say how fast it is and all that but I am still not so sure. Anyhow, still not sure on the Mac revolution. I will see if cleaning off the desktop speeds things up and keeps the system a bit more stable.
The wind is on its way back. Was a beautiful afternoon of sailing and having fun yesterday. We have a friend over from Italy that is staying with us and he hired Lindsay to take some shots for him. I have to say that she did a pretty dang good job. I t pisses me off a bit when I try and try and try and then Lindsay grabs the camera and comes up with some beauty's !! Lindsay is actually going to start taking windsurfing shots for anyone out there who wants there shots taken. We are going to put some flyers in Hi-Tech and Neil Pryde Maui about getting your vacation photographed. So when someone comes to Maui and wants to get some quality photos with the big lens and nice camera, they call her up and book her for an hour and then they get the CD of the shots.. Cool idea or what? If you guys came to Maui would you think about it?? Wouldn't you want to see some of shots of you looking like this?? Well maybe not just like this but be able to put a nice size photo on your wall at your office?? Well I think it is a pretty good idea. If you want to book her up now go to www.islandstylevacations.com and fire her an email.
Oh and what about that moon!! Beauty!

Man it seems like my computer is running slow.. Guess I better go for a restart or something. I thought these new Mac's were supposed to be the cats meow?? Maybe it is because I have around 10000 photos on the thing ?? I doubt that would slow it down too much.. Anyhow.. here is my first panoramic attempt that came out pretty cool. There is a new photo merge in CS 3 that is pretty sweet.
This is from Ulapalakula.. I am pretty sure I didn't spell that one right but maybe.. anyhow its upcountry. What a sunset!!

Got to shoot another wedding today and I think it went pretty good. I just got back from it and haven't checked out the shots but I think that it went pretty good.
No wind here on Maui. Yesterday was pretty light and today was even a bit lighter so if you just got in on vacation here on Maui then you picked the wrong week!
I will post some shots tomorrow from the wedding!

Well I didnt make it into the fianl today but I finished 1st in the looser final. The worst thing was that Bjorn went out in the second round but with the way the discards works he had a less discard and ended up passing me for 2nd in the event. Ended up costing me $1500 in prize money.. oh well.. Dissapointed but third is not too bad...I just hurts a bit..

PWA/Carter Well today I we did one race and I finished 4th. I wasn't too stoked with it because I thought that I could do better. I thought that I should have won it. I hesitated a split second at the start but still had a good start and I hesitated at the first mark and that sent me into 4th.. I should have jammed it into the inside and squeaked my way through the gap... but you hesitate and that gets you no where.. I guess it gets you consistantcy butit doesn't give you the victory sometimes..

We did two rounds today, one I did really good...I won it! and one I did bad.. finished 10th... Wind was a little bit lighter today, but I was the 7.6 most of the day. In the first one I went with the 8.4 and it was smoke. That together with my 122 Starboard it was amazing. I wish I would have been on the 8.4 in my semi... Oh well you win some you loose some. More tomorrow I am sure...

Today we kicked off with some windy races. When we got to the beach it was really blowing. Rigged up the small ones and that was pretty amazing for Turkey. I was impressed with the wind but it got really gusty and really hard to race. Finnaly by the end of the day we had some nice races.
I was fighting hard but I was missing my 8.4.. I was on 7.6 and 6.6 but I really like that 8.4 with my 122.. It is either that or I am just not big and strong enough to fight it out with the big boys when the wind gets cranking.
In the first race of the day I had bad start and then just didnt get to make up too much. In the second round I had ok start but just not enough speed to the first mark but had some phenominal gybes and made my way to 4th. I was pretty happy with that.
In the last race of the day it was a hard fight. The wind was cranking, I was on my 7.6 and was full power. I was in third the entire time fighting with Peter Volwater and it came down to the last gybe and he spun out and ran right into me and crashed. I was very lucky that he didnt take us both out but it made me go into second position and that was good.
Three more days left and the tops spots are pretty much wide open!

Today we had three rounds of racing. In the first one I got second and had some pretty good speed. The next one I finished first and was super stoked with some great speed. In the last one I had an ok start and was in third and going into the second mark Finian had a bad gbye I bobbled and Antoine came inside and tapped my mast as I tried to pump out of it and my mast snapped right there. I think Antoine's boom just hit my mast enough to make it snap. I was pretty bummed.. Anyhow more racing tomorrow. Seems like my speed is pretty good. Was using the 8.4 Tr 3 and was really going good with my 122 Isonic and my 42 fin!! In the last one I probably should have been on my 7.6 but I was going so quick on the 8,4 I didn't want to change anything. Oh well.. Tomorrow is another day!
