Three Sport Day E-mail
Written by Kevin Pritchard

Ahh.. I love three sport days. Woke up to a nice good morning wake up call from Jason Prior saying the waves are up lets go surfing.. so got the jetski together and out we went tow in surfing. Was kinda fun, nothing too amazing but some fun ones here and there. Jason was really ripping it up as he was hungry to get out on the water after spending New Years in Canada.

After a couple hour tow session, went back home and loaded up the slalom boards and went down to Kanaha to test out the Pryde sails as well as some of the new 08 Starboards. I went out on the 8.4 RS Racing with my 133 Starboard with the Sl2 Debiochet 44cm fin. The new 133 has really improved alot this year. After that I had the same fin in the 122 Isonic and was surprised that there was not too much difference in speed between the two. Last year I found a bigger difference but this year it seems like I could use either one. So we will have to test it out a bit more but it seems like if you are a bigger guy then you will be fine with the 133 without any compromise to the smaller narrower 122.

After sailing Swift and I went for a nice bike ride from Sprecks to Maalea and back and that was a nice easy flat ride on the bikes. All this was finished off with a nice meal from my Italian friends who came all the way from Italy to make us an excellent meal. What a great day!

Nice to read that the isonic 133 is this year better. I have the 2007 edition and it's not the most easy board to get it sold on the 2second hand market in belgium/Netherlands... To say it on a friendly way. ;-)

How did you like the RS racing sails?

Interesting board comment Kevin. What's the border line (weight?) for a ligh guy can go in light with 122 and a big in 133 ?
In same wind condition I think that 133 does need a bigger sail.Right?
I thought that 8,4 would has bees the smallest for 85 cm wide one.
What about RsR compared tour previous tr-3 and new tr-4 ?
That's very helpfull for me as I'm deciding if switch or not....
What are the differences you've found out?
Thanks a lot Kevin

Kevin,
I know that Hot Sails are probably a too small a loft for you, but still, don't forget to try out Tom Hammertons GPS sails. We all know racing is an important part for your sailing, meaning that kind of sails are important for a loft to offer to even be considered by you.
But, winning the WC so many times and with the big guys, wouldn't it be nice to try do the same on a smaller oft's gear?! And working really close with Tom bettering the GPS to meet your standards (if it doesn't suit you perfectly).
And, developing their already very good booms (have you ever tried the Supermodel? You should!).
Then the wavesails - try them all to see what's you cup of tea. The Fire and Smack is extremely good sails (and really tough) and the Superfreak is a different kind of animal which have to be sailed a few times to be appreciated. Think of it - a custom designed Superfreak w
