Shewww.... Next time I go there I am taking a sleep aid or two for the bus ride.. I can not believe how they drive there. It is like a video game. Everyone who drives there is driving like the way you would drive without any rules, like a race to get to the next spot.. and I mean everybody. It is so crazy. But don't take my word for it, go down there and check it out. Once you arrive to the sailing location it is nice, once you make it to the airport it is nice to know you are coming out alive!!

Now in Bangkok, went to the Starboard HQ dropped off the slalom boards and picked up two new wave Proto's. Stoked. Can wait to get back to Maui and start training to take that world title this year. My mom said that all my new Gaastra gear is ready and waiting, over 16 boxes of brand new Vapor's, Manic's, Poisons, and all the new latest and greatest Gaastra Masts. I dont know if you have seen any of the Gaastra masts, but you really should if at all possible. The masts that I have been using from my brother are amazing. They are super light and seem to be strong, as havent had any problems with them yet. I had one mast in my car using it everyday for a month and no problems so that is pretty good.

Hope you enjoy the shots and there are not too many of them!! You have time to check them out while I am sitting on the plane from Bangkok to Tokyo, Tokyo to Honolulu and then to Maui.. Whoo hooo!!!

Kev, You said you had 16 boxes waiting for you, how much if this did you have to pay for yourself, as i hear windsurfers get around 2 0r 3 sails free, but the rest they have to pay for.

Great series of photos. Where is the sailing site in Nam? Just what I need in my hanger, boxes of new equipment from Gaastra. If you don't like something, send it along to me and I'll cover your costs. It's awefully dank, wet and cold outside my window here with traces of snow in the taxiway. Thanks for the window on the tropics!!!!

Nice pics! Question about masts: I've had one mast (not a Gaastra!) in my car and used it every day for two years, without any problem! This is a mast I bought used, from a rental shop! And you better believe this mast has been through hell! I'm not as good a sailor as you, so I have mastered every type of mast-destroying wipe-out: I hit the lip late, I go over the falls on big-plus days, I perl my bottom turns, I land on top of my gear, I pole-vault my junk over the reef, get caught in the shore break, and so on, on a daily basis! Should I be thinking about retiring my mast?

Kevin,

Cool shots. What is your travel camera/lens combo?

Glad you like the shots! I had a massage for an hour for 15 bucks over there. Was really good one too.

As for the sails, I am stoked to be on the Gaastra Program. They are treating me very well and I hope to bring them home a championship.

As for the masts, I would say keep the mast until you are ready to upgrade the performance of your sailing. If you can abuse it like this, then that is pretty good. If you really want to know what you sail should feel like when rigged properly, try the recommended mast and that is when you will figure out when to really retire your mast, or just save the old mast for the big days that you go out and keep the nice new mast for better performance.

Albert, for the camera I take my 30d Canon, I like this over the 1dmk2 just because it is so much lighter. i mainly use the 17 to 40mm 4.0 and also carry around a 85mm 1.8 prime lens
