It seems like KP is MIA- so i'm going to try to figure out how this blog thing works!

I watched with great anticipation the event in Costa Brava. I have been there many times and have a nickname for that location… Costa NADA. I have had bad luck there with the wind although my friends that live there say great things about it. It is probably one of my favorite venues however. There is a great campsite right on the beach where everybody lives- you are close to the action and can relax when there is Nada for wind….It was lucky they had one day of breeze for a result at least!

My take on the event was not exactly how I expected it to turn out.  I knew Antoine would be hard to beat. I thought Kev would have been able to give him a better run for the money- seems he forgot how to start or something….. as we heard, SPEED WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. I was hoping to see some of these newer names further up the ranking- Ross Williams the light air master is usually a front runner- he just managed to make the top 16 prize money cut off. Josh Angulo was another guy that I thought would be in the mix but he ended up in 15th! Bjorn Dunkerbeck in 8th- that must be frustrating for him. A big congrats go out to Finian, Micah and Gonzalo- good job boys! I know how hard it is out there and have lots of respect for the guys putting in the effort.

As for me, I have been at home having a great time sailing on Maui. I have been doing lots of Private Lessons and that is a lot of fun for me. I recently taught 2 guys how to forward loop. One of the guys was a 24 year old college student named Tyler who is going to Medical School- he had some wakeboarding experience and he set a new record doing his first loop just under 3 hours of instruction! The other guy is a 39 year old professor who is very methodical about his actions. He is on the flip side of Tyler’s learning curve. It has been 3 years since we have been working together and a couple days ago, he made his first rotations which were a huge success. For him the toughest barrier to break was overcoming the initial RUSH as I call it. The adrenaline that gets pumping through your veins that tells you NO NO, I CAN”T DO THAT. Your brain has to overcome that and allow you to LET IT GO! You have to WANT to do it…. Desire is the key and when you have that desire, let me know and I’ll get you doing your first forward loop.

We have had a pretty windy May/June up until a few days ago when the wind decided to take a break…. It was still great sailing at Hookipa, light winds and some head high waves coming in. Something we have not seen in quite a while!!!

I’ll try to take some pics with my small little pocket cam….. they won’t be up to KP style but hopefully my spelling with be a little better??? I’m looking forward to comments and questions……..  MP

Must be awesome helping guys make that breakthrough on the forward loop! I think it would have to be the move that has given me the most satisfaction in my 25 years of sailing. I probably landed my first one about 15 years ago but they are still just as fun as you get them higher and later. Who thought them up?

Yeah, having you mentioning it again now gives me an extra boost to get over that RUSH that you mean. I'm having this move as a goal for this season and so far i have only attempted it once, but that was more of a half attempt haha

Now I'll get out there again and try... :)

You should write more often Matt ;)
And I know that forward loop barrier very well, not letting me go for it. Does that mean I don't have enough desire for it? I sometimes see myself doing it in my dreams and it just seems so easy!! But when i'm on the water... damn!

For looping, you gotta want it bad to overcome the RUSH! You have to visualize it over and over and see yourself doing it. When you get it in your head, you then have to break down the steps to get there and JUST DO IT! Pull the trigger...... If you need help, come to Maui and I\\\'ll show you how its done!

Maybe we can let matt do it for a week and then have a pole as to who is the more interesting blogger.. matt.. here is your blogger startum.. lets see what you got..

KP has a way of mumbling in his prose, but you seem to have more confidence and yes, better spelling, Matt. That was a good post. No desire here to do a forward loop, but I'ld love to see one performed some day. What do you think of Tiger Woods? Didn't he grow up near where you did?

Just read your comment Kevin and hope you weren\\\'t offended by mine. I don\\\'t ever refer to my younger brother by his initials, though. I did think that was odd. You guys are lucky that you\\\'re both dedicated to the same sport. You could be stuck with a couch potato who doesn\\\'t even know how to write legibly.

Somewhere I have a quote from a famous Irish writer about men who are strangers to puns. I\\\'ll see if i can dig it up. That\\\'s a good one. It reminds me of the one for Vero Beach (Zero Beach) where my Mother\\\'s condo lies.

Getting people to loop is just as fun as doing them yourself! We're holding a month long event here in Hatteras right now, called "Loopfest." It's all about getting people to overcome that hurdle. I've been surprised by the turnout of East Coasters ready to step it up, from 16 to 46 years old! But our normal, dependable wind has been lacking here, too. Maybe we should call it the Hatteras schlogfest...

Looks like KP is challenging me here..... i like a little challenge but I think Kev does an AWESOME job at keeping this site updated- even if he kant spel. He is a little bummed that no one has been buying his MFC fins from the shop- I told him he needs to pump it up a bit more and make the shop more interesting- maybe more pics or what do you guys think? What makes a good looking online shop that keeps you coming back for more?

Hey Andy, I agree with you- I love teaching people how to loop. Bummer you guys don't have any wind..... Good to hear the boys and girls back east are stepping up.... Here is some motivation for anybody thinking about trying their first forward loop- go to YouTube and do a search for Travis Pastrana Double back flip- on his motorcycle. Yes, that is right, check this out and think about landing on the DIRT! I feel like a wimp when i see what these guys are doing.....

Matt, you asked what makes a good looking online shop that keeps us coming back for more? Low prices and free cargo! ;)
And I hope I'll come to Maui one day but not to learn how to do forward loop from you, 'cause I'm determined to achieve it by then. Maybe I'll learn something else... Push loops maybe?
13"On-line shops"

Unfortunately, there's so many on-line vendors that I wouldn't put in a lot of effort into building one. You can't expect immediate results, too. Keep it simple. The winds here in the East have been practically non-existent. The swimming has been great, though.

It's a nice change to have MP in da house! The talk's always about the front loop but I've seen MP's back loop up close and personal - there aren't many things that are quite as beautiful!! btw, spell check is always an options, boyz! take it to 'em KP!
